THE ENTREPRENEUR.

EPISODE 2.

REDISCOVER YOURSELF. DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT YOU SEE IN THE MIRROR.
Government’s statistics regarding unemployment figures are alarming. If you make up that figure, what are you doing to redeem yourself? If you are lucky to be hooked up in to a 9-to-5 job, do you know you could never get any better than what you are now? In fact, with time your situation deteriorates. Do you know you could work for yourself and therefore keep the entire turnover your entity makes? If you are in an institution of higher learning, what are your chances and hopes of landing that job with a fat salary? Consider the number of people already out there hustling for these positions.
Everyone great today started in a very small way, probably from nine-to-five. The only problem with nine-to-five is, if you stayed on for far too long you get trapped. Soon you would find out that your outgoings have exceeded your income. That is, your income merely covers your fixed expenditure. When you add on your committed costs (credit card debts, mortgages etc), you are scared to take any risk at all. Social factors may also complicate the issue (the wife and the children). You know what I am talking about. Sadly, most of our fears are never there anyway. But we think we are playing safe to avoid such predicaments that would belittle our ego. If you then take on a wife or husband your priorities are changed or shifted from what judiciously might have been just a simple issue to rather complicated and bonded one. You are not in the position to think of the self any longer but the dual entity – husband and wife. Many times, our reasoning is thwarted by so many misgivings. Not these factors alone, sometimes, the complications could be your ability or age. I was sixty-two with only three years working life when I have decided to change my future. That is too late you may say. But where there is life there is hope. The question I asked myself was, “What was I doing all these years? What have I got to show for sixty years I have lived on earth?” These questions and many more that were derogatory to my ego came to my mind. But that is how it is with many of us till we hit the rock bottom before we start to realise we need to do something about our future. I was scared what my earnings would be when I have stopped going to work for my boss. I could not count on my meagre pension. I was scared my domestic responsibilities would rather be on the increase. My income as at now could not see me through, how would a meagre pension payment make me cope? I felt my very existence has been threatened. This was when I started thinking smart. Every day I thought of what I could do when no one would be willing to employ me? How would I cope when there is no steam in me again? Sometimes we all hope against hope that the good angel would smile in our lives and things turn right. We go to work five days every week but our lives never get any better. In fact, our income remained static while our expenses are dynamically and astronomically growing. We wished things could change for the better. But it does not happen this way, mate! You need to take the bull by the horn. How this ought to be done, no one can teach you. Even though there should be much information around us. No one turns to look for it. I did not look for it till I was past sixty and it was dawn on me that my usefulness was running out. What is your story? I believe you have reached a cross-road of your life. You do not know where to turn. We have all been at that junction, not knowing which way to turn or better, which road leads us out of this economic doldrums. You have completely run out of steam. You can not even think right. This feeling only leads you to more confusion. You need to regain your self-esteem to get back on track. You can make a change if you want to. The physical things around us are not only physical but mental too. For everything physical starts as a mental concept before it is manifested or translated in to physical reality. Therefore, to make changes to your physical realities you need to formulate a mental concept of the new position or situation you envisaged or wanted to assume. Whatever is your plight, it can be changed, only if you are prepared to change it. You could be a young man who had just gone in to the 9-to-5 job stream or an aged person running out of steam. Once you have realised it is not the right place for you, then you need to mentally calculate how you could get out and get on to a better plane leading you to prosperity.
